Here at Village Sentry Pet Care we spend a lot of time organizing our daycare program in a way that benefits everybody involved. Safety is our top priority, followed by fun!

Our three different packages all offer perks for frequent-flyer pups and their families. We feel that all pups participating more frequently in daycare get to know one another better and become more accustomed to their groups overall. It’s a perfect way to find a niche while they are away from home. Much like children, it is difficult for dogs to acclimate and make friends if they are not actively involved.

DOGGY DAYCARE

How To Join Our Doggy Daycare

Have a first-hand awareness of your dog’s temperament and behavior around other dogs. We highly recommend having your dog socialize with some friends' dogs, supervised group settings, or working with them in group training before considering to send them to daycare. Mingling with other dogs is not always the best fit for every dog, and it is helpful for you as an owner to have an idea of how your dog may do in a group setting prior to applying.

If your dog thrives in a group environment and you’d like to enroll them in our Doggy Daycare, fill out our application, found here, which can be brought to our office or mailed to our P.O. box. All daycare applications are read by the daycare manager before Village Sentry Pet Care decides if a trial will be set up. If your dog fits into our environment we will call you to set up an “daycare trial" with the pup. If we don’t, there could be a few reasons why:

  • The energy group that we feel your dog would be best suited for is full (our adult groups are often very full)

  • Your dog is reported to be anxious in a group or indoor setting

  • Your dog is reported to be aggressive towards people or other dog

Our “daycare trial” is a free meet-and-greet for a few hours that introduces your pup to our staff and when we find the best group for them to join should they get accepted into our Doggy Daycare program.

For more information on how this trial works, please see the tours and trials page.

Day-to-Day Schedule

Although our daycare hours start at 6:30 A.M. and end at 6:00 P.M., your pup can be dropped off and picked up at any time during our business hours except for our lunch hour from 12 P.M. to 1 P.M.

We start the rotating groups between 8:00 A.M. and 8:30 A.M. The groups will be outside for one to two hours in the morning, depending on the energy level, then come in for their rest time. The morning rounds of Doggy Daycare conclude around 11:30 A.M. and start back up after lunch at 12:30 P.M. We have found that the dogs benefit from a full hour of zero activity, so that they can rest, nap, have lunch, or even catch a second wind!

The afternoon has two more times for play, essentially identical to the morning rounds. The second round is just as long as the morning, and, often by the third round, the dogs are pretty exhausted! The rotating groups conclude between 4 P.M. and 5 P.M. depending on how busy the day is and the types of groups we have.

6:30 A.M.: Dogs start coming in!

8:30 A.M.: Doggy Daycare groups begin.

11:30 A.M.: Doggy Daycare groups come in for an hour of rest.

11:45 A.M.: Lunchtime for any pups with packed lunches.

12:30 P.M.: Afternoon groups begin.

4:30 P.M.: Doggy Daycare groups finish up.

6:00 P.M.: Latest pick-up time!

If your pup needs something to munch on mid-day, we will give them any labeled lunch you want to bring in with a $2.00 charge.

Groups

While our daycare groups are sometimes set up by size of the dog, we pay special attention to the energy level of the individual dogs as well as the dogs’ interactions in the group setting. Our groups average eight to sixteen dogs per group with a staff attendant at all times.

We may only have three groups or we may have up six groups at a time that are organized to ensure the best play experience for all the dogs at daycare.

We normally have a puppy group, a teenager group, one or two adult groups, small dog group, and a lower energy, “VIP” mixed group on any given day.

Since our daycare is a program, we like to think of the groups more as classes. Our adult groups are full because the dogs typically do better when they start younger (4-16 months old) in the program as they get to age with their group. We often have availability for younger dogs as we are always looking to add members to our Doggy Daycare program that will be able to integrate and grow up here; many of our dogs start young and come for life!

When Exactly Does My Package or Pass Expire?

Your purchased packages and passes will expire after the predetermined number of weeks have passed from its first usage, not from the date of purchase. For example, if you purchase your package or pass on a Tuesday and it has a 5 week expiration, it will not expire exactly 5 Tuesdays from that date of purchase unless that was the first time that you had used it. On the other hand, if you used it for the first time on that Thursday, it would expire 5 weeks later from this initial usage rather than the purchase date.
